My Poetry in Motion Page

by Phelicity Marie Dauphine

Mew and welcome! This is my page fur the Poetry in Motion Society. Poetry in Motion is the guild fur kitty poets in CLAW. I love being a memfur of Poetry in Motion, cause I love to write poetry.

I haf earned to Level 14 now in November, 2001!

I like all kinds of poetry, but what I like best to write are poems about special things I feel or rememfur. I can see these things so clearly in a poem, so I hope offur kitties can, too. Feelings seem much more true to me when they are written.

Feelings with a poem.

This was my furst poem fur the new beginning of Spring:

Beginnings

When a kitten comes into the world,
As I did one day in Spring,
It was the beginning of life fur me,
And I was a tiny thing!

When the tree was set in the ground
And took root and started to grow,
It was the beginning of life fur her,
And that was long years ago.

I grew up to a quite small cat,
And she to a quite tall tree.
I watch her from my window and sigh,
Fur she isn't safe and warm as I,
She looks icy and dead to me.

When Spring comes back to the world,
She'll be covered with green leaves then!
My tree needs a new beginning the most,
      And Spring is coming again!

I am so purroud to show off the beautifur awards I was presented wif in the April 2001 Awards ceremonies! Thank mew furry much!

We had a wonderfur activity fur June! We got to submit poems fur the Poetry in Motion Library book. This is my new poem fur that:

When I was a Kitty Nurse

    My Meowmie was doing the strangest thing;
No matter how loud I'd call,
She stayed in the bed and moaned and groaned,
And wouldn't get up at all!

She stumbled about too late for breakfast
And gave me some lunch instead,
And said she was busy having the flu
And went right back to bed!

I patted and kneaded, rolled and purred,
And pestered her all the while,
But all of the head bumps in the world
    Wouldn't make Meowmie smile.

For days this strange behavior went on,
And all of my meals were late!
So I kept her company on the bed
And resigned myself to my fate.

Did she forget how to be a meowmie,
And how I like things to be?
Well, I didn't know, she just held me close
And said she depended on me.

That made me feel so needed and special
That I wrote this poem to tell
How a kitty beside you's the furry best thing
To make a sick human get well!

I'm happy to say my Meowmie got better.
I helped her not to get worse!
And she thanks me lovingly for those days
When I was a kitty nurse.

These are my new awards that I got in the November 2001 Awards Ceremonies! Thank mew furry much!

We are getting a badge efurry month fur writing our poems now. These are my badges fur November and December:

This my first poem of the New Year, 2002. The topic was to tell what we saw out our window, but the city in January does not inspire poetry. So I thought about what I didn't see and wrote that.

I live in a city, and when I look out my window,
I see traffic, dull grey stuff, and a used car lot.
So I close my eyes, and think about
a brand new year coming out there.
    What will it look like?
    Will it be prettier?
What should I do with it?

    A Brand New Year

If this is such a brand New Year,
I want it bright and shiny,
I want it wrapped in ribbon
with a card that says to me.
    I know it sounds possessive,
like my heart is really tiny,
But you must understand, I want
a gift that I can see.

So I can give the year away
to those who need it badly,
Who didn't like the old one,
And prefer a year that's new.
So I can see a face that doesn't
    look at me so sadly,
And make your heart be happy
when I give the year to you.
