Highland Gardens Civic Association
Minutes for March 9, 2011

The meeting was called to order at approximately 7:15 pm. Vice President Chris Lundy asked everyone to stand for the Pledge of Allegiance.

The first order of business was amendment changes to the bylaws. Chris read the suggested changes one by one and ask for a vote. All the changes were approved and the bylaws are amended.

Monthly Reports
Chris announced that we sometimes do not follow the agenda exactly as written, but assured everyone that all items would be met. Having said that, she called on our new NTL, Ofc. Derek Cormier, to give his report. He told a bit about himself, then gave statistics on recent crimes in the neighborhood through Jan. and Feb.

Code Supervisor Jim McGee filled in for our vacationing neighborhood Code Enforcement Officer Tommy Pinder. He brought us current on the beautification committee, and answered questions. In closing, he gave us the sad news that Erica Baker, the young woman who worked in the center, had passed away. Services were pending.

Commissioner Beam Furr reported on the progress of the planned neighborhood parks as well as suggesting to the Adams Street committee that since their job was basically done, that they might concentrate on designing ideas for the park at McNicol.

Shirley reported on what's new with Crime watch. Quite a few changes are coming including giving the volunteer Mobile Patrol drivers a bit more to do.

There is $1330.21 in the bank, but Chris and the new treasurer will open a new bank account due to the fraud that was committed on the account.

The last order of business was to deal with the election of a new board. The nominations were as follows: David Kout for president, Chris Lundy for Vice President, Shirley Stealey for secretary, and Reginald Quesenberry for treasurer. Since there were no nominations from the floor, Loren Pate suggested we accept the nominees. The vote was taken and passed. Louie Rodrigues was appointed as Sargeant at Arms.

The meeting was then adjourned.
